  • Do pets need to be quarantined when they return to Taiwan? How long do they need to be quarantined?
If you return to Taiwan from a rabies-free area, you don't need to be quarantined! You can take the furkid home on the day of arrival. If you return to Taiwan from a rabies-endemic area + documents are complete, you need to be quarantined for 7 days. If the documents are missing, you need to be quarantined for a maximum of 127 days. (If the fur child has a special condition, he can apply for isolation at home)
  • Rabies-area and rabies-free area
For Taiwan, the non rabies epidemic areas are Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Iceland, Japan, Norway (except Svalbard Islands), Hawaii, Guam and Singapore. Except for the above countries, other countries are all rabies-endemic areas. The regulations for pets going abroad are based on the list of countries where the risk of rabies is determined to be high or low. Each country is different. If you have any questions, please consult the customer service staff.
  • How long does it take to start preparations for pets to return to Taiwan?
It is recommended to start preparations at least four or five months in advance! And isolation cages are often hard to find, so it would be more appropriate to reserve some buffer space.
  • Can my dog or cat board the plane?
Due to the regulations of different countries, the importation of dogs in some countries is prohibited or requires a more complicated application process, such as: Pitbull, Tosa, Brazilian Fez, Mastiff, Argentine Dodo...etc. . In addition, flat-nosed pets such as: exotic short-haired cats, Persian cats, French bulldogs, etc. have different innate structures, are less likely to dissipate heat in the cabin, and are more prone to heatstroke and breathing difficulties. The risk of flying is greater, so many airlines only Shipping in winter.

  • Preparations before flying
During the pre-trip preparation, training your pets to get accustomed to the crate can help reduce their anxiety inside it. When boarding the flight, it's essential to use an appropriately sized transportation crate with a water supply. Avoid feeding your pets within two hours before the flight. You can allow them to have some water before closing the crate for boarding to keep them hydrated. (If there are any special circumstances, it's recommended to discuss with a veterinarian for the best approach for your pets.)
  • Can a general travel crate be used as a transport cage?
The "air transport cage" must be a well-ventilated hard plastic cage, and the cage should not be too small so that the baby can stand up and turn around in the cage. The bottom of the cage can be covered with diaper pads, or placed with familiar clothes or dolls. A drinking fountain should be installed outside the cage to provide the water needed during the journey
  • Pet transportation method "passenger carry" vs. "cargo customs declaration"
Passenger carry-on means that pets and passengers take the same flight, and they will be checked in as excess baggage when checking in, but some airlines allow pets and their owners to stay in the cabin together during the flight. Freight customs declaration means that pets will be transported separately by cargo plane. Not necessarily on the same day or on the same flight as the owner, and usually not in the same terminal after landing.
  • "Cargo Customs Declaration" method
Some countries stipulate that pets must be transported into the country, such as: Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, etc. Pets exported by way of freight must go through formal customs declaration procedures. The procedures are more cumbersome and complicated than passenger consignment.
  • "Passenger Carry" method
Most airlines transport their pets in the hold, which means that pets and checked luggage are handed over to the airline, and you will go through the pick-up procedures after you get off the plane. The place where pets stay on the plane is Aerobic cargo hold, the environment is the same as that of the passenger cabin. A small number of airlines accept "pets in the cabin". For example: United Airlines, KLM, Asiana Airlines, etc. allow owners to bring their pets on board and fly together in the cabin. The relevant regulations for pets must meet the requirements of each airline requirements (including restricted varieties and weights).
